A flooded field along the Seneca River reflects the sky above at Savannah, NY. Back in March 2022, I was at Savannah, New York, photographing trains on CSX's Rochester Subdivision . This field, which sits along the western side of the Seneca River , was flooded by the river. The clouds were moving in from the west as another round of storms were coming. Control point (CP) 308 is at milepost (MP) 308.7 of the CSX Rochester Subdivision. The CP sits on top of the Onondaga County and Cayuga County border, just to the east of Pump Road. On the east side of CP308 is Jordan, New York. To the west of it is the Town of Brutus, NY. The area west of CP308, even though it is in the Town of Brutus, is commonly referred to as Jordan. The route is clear for a Track 2 to Track 2 eastbound movement at CP308. In the photograph above, the route is set with a clear signal for an eastbound train on Track 2. The movement will be Track 2 to Track 2. CP308 has a single crossover that allows either eastbound movements from Track 2 to Track 1 or the reverse, westbound movements from Track 1 to Track 2. Q560-14 at CP 308 CSXT 893 and CSXT 5291 lead Q560-14 east at MP QC 309 toward CP308 at Pump Rd. The Bonta Bridge Rd. crossing is in the background. Very often, routes at CPs are set far in advance of a train. However, I didn't have long to wait this time. ...

 Back on August 29th, I caught the Waning Gibbous Moon in the late morning. This weekend, I was able to catch the Waxing Crescent Moon on the evening of Saturday, September 11, 2021. The Waxing Crescent Moon The Waning Gibbous Phase is when the amount of the Moon surface that is visible from Earth shrinks, ranging from 99.9% to 50.1%. The Waxing Crescent Moon is when the visible amount of the Moon's surface starts to grow, after the New Moon. The Waxing Crescent Moon's visible amount of surface ranges from 0.1% to 49.9%.   Cloud rotation As my family was driving down one of the local roads I looked up at the storm clouds and noticed a funnel cloud trying to form right above us. We were stopped and stuck in traffic so we couldn't quickly drive and get away. I kept watching it and, thankfully, the funnel cloud quickly broke apart. This photograph shows the residual rotation left in the cloud after the funnel cloud broke up.  What a welcome to New York!  Photograph taken on June 30, 2021, near Syracuse, New York.

Long Point Lighthouse and Wood End Lighthouse In this view, both Long Point Lighthouse and Wood End Lighthouse can be seen. Long Point Light is closest, while Wood End Light is far off in the distance (to the right of the photograph). Storm clouds - Union, NE While on a road trip in Nebraska and Kansas, my friends and I witnessed this storm beginning to form over the area we were in. The storm eventually formed into quite a fierce one, with lots of lightning , rain, wind, and even a tornado, per reports we saw on the news later. A lightning bold strikes arcs between the sky and ground near Tecumseh, Nebraska. This storm became a rather fierce one, with the lighting becoming frequent. April 29, 2010. Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Telephone poles and wires stand against an approaching storm, near the town of Tecumseh, Nebraska . This storm ended up being a violent one. There were multiple tornadoes, and the strong rains made driving a bit scary at times. While my friends and I didn't actually witness any tornadoes, we later saw on the news one skimmed the outskirts of a town as we drove through the town.  Photo taken: April 29, 2010.
