UP 1996 Northbound On The Mount Vernon Subdivision at Mount Vernon, IL.

UP 1995 rolls north on UP's Mount Vernon Subdivision at Mount Vernon, IL

Union Pacific's Southern Pacific heritage locomotive, UP 1996, leads intermodal train IMAG2R-10 north through the Woodland Road crossing on UP's Mount Vernon Subdivision. The train is on its way to UP's Global 2 intermodal facility in the Chicago, Illinois area.

  1. Love it. Would have loved it even more if Uncle Pete had used the actual paint schemes (like on the 4449) instead of trying to fuse them together. Guess it just comes from being a purist AND being an NS fan (I am from the South, after all), considering how NS made sure to just use the original schemes as they were.

  2. While I do really like the way NS designed the paint schemes for its series of heritage locomotives, I also really like the way UP did its schemes. I like the slightly modern take of the past schemes when applied to the modern locomotives.
