NS 9270 and NS 8687 at Gratiot Interlocking In St. Louis

NS 9270 and NS 8687 June 9, 2007. St. Louis, MO. With a bit of Cableicous​ framing, NS 9270 and NS 8687 roll west on the west approach of the McArthur Bridge, near Gratiot Interlocking. The light engine movement was heading to the UP's 12th Street Yard to pick up a string of cars. Meanwhile, the Union Pacific locomotive was on the point of a westbound train that was waiting for clearance to proceed through the interlocking and onto the UP's Jefferson City Subdivision. UP 8024 on the TRRA Merchants Subdivision With The Gateway Arch In The Background

With the Gateway Arch and part of the downtown St. Louis skyline in view, Union Pacific 8024 is seen here on a coal train that is parked on the TRRA's Merchants Subdivision, near Compton Avenue. UP 8024 was the distributed power unit (DPU) on this coal train. Next to the coal train, a BNSF manifest train makes its way west. This location is just to the east of Grand Interlocking , where the Merchants Subdivision, as well as the BNSF Hannibal Subdivision, and Union Pacific Jefferson City Subdivision all interchange with each other. GECX 8497 - Illinois Transfer Subdivision - Valley Junction

GECX 8497 at Valley Junction GECX 8497 (an EMD SD40T-2 ) comes off the TRRA's Illinois Transfer Subdivision at Valley Junction . The Illinois Transfer Subdivision runs between Valley Junction on the southern end of the line, and TRRA's Madison Yard on the northern end. In the background, the train is passing under a portion of the MacArthur Bridge's east approach that leads into Alton & Southern's Gateway Yard . The eastern approach splits at Valley Junction, with two tracks going to the A&S yard, and the two tracks to the left of GECS 8497 coming down to grade next to South 20th Street in East St. Louis, IL. BNSF 643, BNSF 6934, and WC 3026 - Hannibal Subdivision - II

BNSF 643, BNSF 6934, and WC 3026 - Chouteau Avenue BNSF 643, BNSF 6934, and Wisconsin Central 3026 lead train east at Chouteau Avenue. The train is rolling eastward on BNSF's Hannibal Subdivision, and is heading toward TRRA's Grand Interlocking , where it will roll onto TRRA's Merchants Subdivision. BNSF trains on the Hannibal Subdivision use the TRRA's Merchants Subdivision between Grand Interlocking and North Market Interlocking . Painted in a "map" scheme, WC 3026 is WC's 10th anniversary unit that also celebrated Wisconsin's sesquicentennial anniversary of statehood. BNSF 643 is an ex-Santa Fe engine that is still painted in the Warbonnet paint scheme, even though the engine has been patched. BNSF 643 - ex-SF Warbonnet - Lindenwood Yard - St. Louis, MO

BNSF 643 - Lindenwood Yard BNSF 643 sits on the point of a manifest train that is waiting to depart BNSF's Lindenwood Yard. Meanwhile, another BNSF train is slowly making its way along side BNSF 643's train. BNSF 643 is a former Santa Fe locomotive that is still painted in the Warbonnet paint scheme. While the locomotive still had its Santa Fe paint scheme, it had been re-lettered as a BNSF locomotive. Lindenwood Yard is BNSF's primary yard in the St. Louis area. BNSF also has a smaller yard located in North St. Louis, along the Hannibal Subdivision. Lindenwood Yard sits on the southwestern edge of the City of St. Louis, along Interstate 44. NS 8925 & UP 9765 at Gateway Yard with the Gateway Arch. Norfolk Southern 8925 and Union Pacific 9765 are on the point of a manifest train that is making its way through the Alton & Southern's Gateway Yard, with the downtown St. Louis' skyline in the background. Gateway Yard is one of two hump and classification yards in the St. Louis area. The other hump yard is the TRRA's Madison Yard , located in Madison, IL an Venice, IL. The Gateway Yard's western end is at Valley Junction in East. St. Louis, IL., while the eastern end of the yard is in Alorton, IL. In 1968, the Missouri Pacific and the Chicago & North Western railroads purchased the Alton & Southern and operated the railroad jointly. UP 4507 - Kirkwood, MO Led by UP 4507, a unit-train carrying pipes is heading west on the Union Pacific's Jefferson City Subdivision. The train is just east of, and approaching, the Kirkwood Amtrak Station at Kirkwood Road. UP 9539 - Columbia, IL Union Pacific (UP) 9539 rolls north on Union Pacific's Chester Subdivision through the BB Road crossing. The crossing is just north and west of Interstate 255 (the highway crosses over and then turns and runs almost parallel to the tracks), and to the south of Union Pacific's Dupo Yard . At the same spot where I-255 crosses the Chester Subdivision, to the south, is Control Point D009 (CPD009), which is commonly referred to as ICG. UP 1982, UP 1988, and UP 4859 - Train IHOYC-17 - Dupo Yard Union Pacific (UP) 1982, UP 1988, and UP 4859 are on the point of train I-HOYC-17, as the train sits in UP's Dupo Yard . UP 1982 and UP 1988 are two of Union Pacific's heritage locomotive fleet, and commemorate the Missouri Pacific Railroad and Missouri, Kansas, & Texas Railroad ("The Katy"). I-HOYC is an inter-modal train  that runs between Houston, Texas, and Yard Center (near Chicago, Illinois). The train's normal routing brings it through the St. Louis area via Dupo, Illinois. UP 3961 - Dupo Yard - Cantilever Signal Bridge - March 2006

 UP 3961 under the southbound cantilever signal bridge at Dupo, IL. A Union Pacific (UP) freight train, led by UP 3961, rolls north under the cantilever signals bridges on Union Pacific's Chester Subdivision at Dupo Yard. You can see the northbound signal bridge in the distance, looking down the left side of the train. These signal bridges are from the days when this was a Missouri Pacific line and yard. Many of the old Missouri Pacific signal bridges along this line have disappeared over the years, but a few seem to remain, including some at Gorham, IL .
