The Front of the Old State House Museum in Little Rock

A view, from the front gate, of the Old State House Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas. The museum is the original state capital of Arkansas, and construction of the building started in 1833. In 1911, the new state capital building was opened and the Old State House was used for a number of other functions over the years, before becoming a museum archiving the state's history.

Bathed in light and shadow from the late afternoon sunlight, the columns of the Old State House Museum stand tall. Up until 1911, when the current state house was built, the Old State House was the center of Arkansas' government. Construction of the building was started in 1833.

The Junction Bridge's lift span over the Arkansas River

This view shows the lift span of Junction Bridge. Built as a railroad bridge, it now serves as a pedestrian bridge that spans the Arkansas River. The lift span is permanently in the raised position so that river traffic can pass underneath. You can see the stairway and elevator additions to the bridge that allow pedestrians to get up to and down from the lift span.

A view of the east side of Junction Bridge, which spans the Arkansas River between North Little Rock, Arkansas and Little Rock, Arkansas. Though, no longer used to carry trains over the river, the bridge still serves a purpose by allowing pedestrians to cross the river between the two cities.

Rock Region Metro Streetcar 409 crosses Scott Street in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, as it makes its way down South 2nd Street. The streetcars on the system are replica built streetcars, and not older refurbished streetcars.

Metro Streetcar 409 - Main Street Bridge - Little Rock, AR

After making the turn from West Markham Street, onto Scott Street, Rock Region Metro Streetcar 409 heads up the approach and onto the Main Street Bridge. The bridge crosses over the Arkansas River between Little Rock, Arkansas, and North Little Rock, Arkansas. Scott Street ends at the bridge.

Rock Region Metro Streetcar 409 is making the turn onto Scott Street, from East Markham Street. After making the turn, the streetcar will head toward the Main Street Bridge to cross over the Arkansas River and into North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Prague Tram 9251 – Tunnel under a building in Lesser Town

A Škoda 15 T type tram, number 9251, rolls down Letenská street toward an archway and tunnel under a building in Menší Město pražské (Lesser Town of Prague), on the Number 12 Route near the Malostranské náměstí (Lesser Town Square) tram stop. The two tracks do not actually become one when they pass through the tunnel and archway under the building. The two sets of tracks stay separated from each other, but come close to one another.

Metro Streetcar 409 - Broadway Bridge Span Construction

A Blue Line streetcar, number 410, rolls down West Markham Street past the Marriot Hotel, and the State House Convention Center. The Blue Line runs between Little Rock, Arkansas, and North Little Rock, Arkansas. The line crosses the Arkansas River, which separates the two cities, on the Main Street Bridge.

As vehicles wait to make a left turn onto North 2nd Avenue, a Metro Transit light rail train makes its way north down North 5th Street. The trains next stop will be the Target Field - Platform 1 station. Metro Transit's Blue Line runs between Target Field and the Mall of America.

BNSF 4669 - UP Chester Subdivision - Flinton Station Road

Using trackage rights, BNSF 4669 leads leads a BNSF grain train north on Union Pacific's Chester Subdivision. The train has just crossed over the Kaskaskia River, to the south, and is rolling past the Flinton Station Road crossing. The train is heading toward the St. Louis rail gateway. Flinton Station is approximately fifty miles, by rail, from the St. Louis area.

UP 6416 – Chester Subdivision – Flinton Station – 3/3/2006

Union Pacific 6416 rolls north with its train at Flinton Station Road, on Union Pacific's Chester Subdivision. The train continued to travel north, making its way toward the St. Louis area, which is about fifty miles away still.
