Totality

Image
Totality
August 21, 2017. Nashville, TN.

I didn't buy a solar filter for my lenses to use during the eclipse, since I decided to just wait until totality to take my image. I snapped a quick shot of totality, and spent the rest of the time enjoying the eclipse with my family and a few friends.

May 3, 2017. Dallas, Texas.

A DART train rolls down Pacific Avenue, after having just left the Akard Station. Just before I had taken this image, a brief but powerful rain storm had just blown through the downtown area.

Waiting

Image
November 2, 2005. Dupo, Illinois.

As a stack train rolls south under the old cantilever style signal in Dupo Yard, Union Pacific 6510 sits waiting for the green so its train can also head south on the Chester Subdivision. The train streaking by is a stack train, however, I can't remember if it was going north or south.

August 12, 2017. Adams, Tennessee.

On CSX's Henderson Subdivision, work progresses on a new bridge span to cross the Red River. I'm not sure if this is for a double-tracking project or just a new replacement bridge.

The old 225 milepost marker near Trenton, KY., on CSX's Henderson Subdivision. It seems that these old mileposts are still fairly common on the Henderson Subdivision.

Standpipe

Image
April 23, 2006. St. Louis, Missouri.

This view is looking up between the old standpipe and the stairway inside the Compton Heights Water Tower. The water tower is no longer used, but once or twice a year it is opened to the public for people to climb the stairs to the observation deck at the top. The water tower wasn't a typical one that held water, but served as a way to manage the water pressure in the city's water system.
