BNSF 6840 and BNSF 6958 on the Orin Subdivision In Wyoming

August 23, 2005. East of Wright, Wyoming.

A BNSF work train is seen here on BNSF's Orin Subdivision, near Wyoming Highway 450. BNSF 6840 and BNSF 6958 are on the point of this ballast train, which is waiting to proceed south. At this time there was a lot of track work occuring adding a third and fourth mainline to much of the Orin Subdivision. This portion of the line was triple tracked at this time.

  1. Excellent shot. I don't see many of the old Santa Fe locomotives, but when I do, they are faded and tired looking. You found one in good shape.

  2. Thanks, Ann Kennedy. I was lucky to capture these two old fallen flag locomotives. Even in 2005, they were becoming a rare sight.

  5. Thank you, Shelly Gunderson. The entire line is now either triple or quadruple tracks from Donkey Creek Junction (east of Gillette, WY) down south to just north of Orin, WY.

    Anastazja Wiater, grazie.
