In the above and below photographs, while Union Pacific 844 sits on display at Kansas City Union Station, members of Union Pacific's steam crew work on the running gear on the engineer's side of the locomotive. The crew members have taken off a large nut, which you can see sitting on the ground between them and the locomotive's wheels.

In the photograph below, a Union Pacific steam crew member is cleaning up and lubricating the running gear on the fireman's side of the locomotive.
