Standpipe and Stairs - Compton Heights Water Tower In St. Louis

April 23, 2006. St. Louis, Missouri.

This view is looking up between the old standpipe and the stairway inside the Compton Heights Water Tower. The water tower is no longer used, but once or twice a year it is opened to the public for people to climb the stairs to the observation deck at the top. The water tower wasn't a typical one that held water, but served as a way to manage the water pressure in the city's water system.
