Pushing Over the Kaskaskia River

Union Pacific (UP) 5976 is working as the DPU on this south bound load coal train, which is crossing over the Kaskaskia River on UP's Chester Subdivision.

March 3, 2006. South of Modoc, Illinois.

  1. Lovely! I love trains on bridges and this is a very nice one withe the blue of the water and yellow pop of the engine.

    1. Thanks a lot, Shelly. This was one of my favorite places to take photographs along the UP's Chester Sub. With the bridge spans being open on each side of the main span, you could get some nice shots from here. This image, as well as the other I have taken at this spot, were taken from a boat launch area down river from the bridge.
