Ethanol train K622, led by CSXT 5325, on the Rochester Subdivision
Last month, while at the Pottery Road crossing on the Rochester Subdivision, I caught CSXT 5325 and CSXT 255 leading train K622-29. The train, below, is passing the old New York Central milepost 298 marker that is just to the west of Pottery Road. K622-29 was eastbound on Track 2 of the subdivision.

Train K622 is an as-needed loaded ethanol train that runs from Chicago, Illinois, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. K622-29 had an axel count of 468. Minus sixteen axles for the two locomotives and one buffer car, gave the train a tank car count of 113.
Neat! So did you count the axels or find that info somewhere? neat info and shots

DeleteThere are two ways that I get the info about the trains. One is to listen to the radio feeds for the railroad line. The radio feeds for this line are streamed over a Broadcastify.com feed (CSX Railroad Rochester to Syracuse - feed ID 27776). On CSX, at least on the subdivisions around here, the dispatchers and crews use the train IDs when talking, and sometimes the locomotive numbers. In regard to the axle counts, those are broadcast via radio from the defect detectors along the line.
If I can't get the info from the radio, I utilize a train log that is kept by a group of railfans who monitor the Virtual Railfan camera at Fairport, NY.
