AMTK 108, Amtrak's Phase VI 50th anniversary locomotive, leads the eastbound Lake Shore Limited across Onondaga Creek. AMTK 108 is one of six locomotives painted to commemorate Amtrak's' 50th anniversary. Here, Onondaga Creek empties into Onondaga Lake on the lake's southeastern end. The view is looking northwest towards the industrial area that sits to the south of the New York State Fairgrounds on the lake's western side.

  1. You can really see the algae in the creek from that view. Interesting there is so much in the flowing water. Beautiful catch of the Amtrak train as well.

    1. Thanks, Shelly.

The large concentration of algae might be because the creek is right next to a waste-water treatment plant. I know the plant empties into the lake, just off to the left of the bridge. I'm not sure if there is a discharge into the creek itself.
