AMTK 68 leads Amtrak's Southwest Chief east on BNSF's Marceline Subdivision at Carrolton, Missouri. The train is passing under the US 24 highway overpass. A few hours before, the train had left Kansas City, Missouri, for its journey to Chicago, Illinois. The train runs on daily basis, between Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California.

The Marceline Subdivision runs between Kansas City, Missouri, (at Rock Creek Junction) and Fort Madison, Iowa, and is part of BNSF's, formerly the Santa Fe's, Transcon route from Chicago, Illinois, to Southern California.
