Start and end of the third rail at Airport Station in Boston

Start and end of the third rail at Airport Station in Boston
Airport Station - Boston, MA

This view is looking looking out of the outbound side of Airport Station. At Airport Station, Blue Line trains heading outbound come up from the subway tunnel to ground level and switch from using third rail power to overhead power drawn through pantographs on the subway cars. Inbound trains do the opposite and switch from overhead catenary power to third rail power. In the photogrpah you can see the two third rails begin and end in the middle between the inbound and outbound tracks.
