UP 3961 - Dupo Yard - Cantilever Signal Bridge - March 2006

A Union Pacific (UP) freight train, led by UP 3961, rolls north under the cantilever signals bridges on Union Pacific's Chester Subdivision at Dupo Yard. You can see the northbound signal bridge in the distance, looking down the left side of the train. These signal bridges are from the days when this was a Missouri Pacific line and yard. Many of the old Missouri Pacific signal bridges along this line have disappeared over the years, but a few seem to remain, including some at Gorham, IL. At least it looks like they are still standing per the satellite and street views on Google Maps.

  2. Thanks, trekky60. These old cantilever type signals sure are becoming extinct these days. They always make for some nice framing within the photograph.
