The museum is the original state capital of Arkansas, and construction of the building started in 1833. In 1911, the new state capital building was opened and the Old State House was used for a number of other functions over the years, before becoming a museum archiving the state's history. Junction Bridge's lift span - Little Rock, AR This view shows the lift span of Junction Bridge . Built as a railroad bridge, it now serves as a pedestrian bridge that spans the Arkansas River. The lift span is permanently in the raised position so that river traffic can pass underneath.
