 On an overcast morning earlier this month, I my youngest and I headed out to see some fall colors , and along the way we were able to see CSX trains Q004-04 and Q017-05 meet at milepost QC299 on CSX's Rochester Subdivision. Q004-04 and Q017-05 meet Upon arriving at the Herman Road crossing in Warners, New York, I saw that the control point signals at  CP300, milepost QC300.7, were on and looked to be lined for a westbound train on Track 1.  Looking east from Herman Road toward CP300. A short time later the headlight of CSXT 3181 appeared to the west of the CP300, leading eastbound train Q004-04. As luck would have it, we were going to see two trains. Soon Q004-04, a priority intermodal train, was roaring down Track 2 of the Rochester Subdivision, at Herman Road (milepost QC299.12).  While driving south on highway, I spotted Empire Service train P284 head east past Destiny USA Mall. I decided to head over to CSX's DeWitt Yard to catch it after it departed the Syracuse train station. CSXT 3279 on the point of train Q017-28 DeWitt Yard was pretty busy upon arrival. The westbound signal for Track 2 of the Syracuse Terminal Subdivision (STS) at CP285 was green, so a westbound train was on its way. A few minutes later CSXT 3279 was leading train Q017-28 west through the yard, approaching CP285 at Bridge Street.  CSXT 3279 leading train Q017-28 at DeWitt Yard Q017 is a daily intermodal train that runs from Worcester, MA., to Bedford Park, IL. (near Chicago, IL.) CSXT 3279 was the lone unit on the front of the train. CSXT 3326 (no photo) was the mid-train distributed power unit (DPU). After watching Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited roll east on the Virtual Railfan camera at Fairport, NY, I  decided to head out and try to catch it near Warners, NY. I had a bit of time to wait before heading out since the train was at least 45 minutes away still, and the location I had picked out at Pottery Road was only 10-15 minutes from where I was at. CSX Train Q017 Soon after arriving, the block signals west of Pottery Road came on indicating a westbound CSX train. As luck would have it, I had the possibility of catching two trains, as long as the westbound cleared in time for the Lake Shore Limited. After a couple of minutes CSXT 842 and CSXT 3249 came around the curve, heading west, leading intermodal train Q017-12 on the Rochester Subdivision. CSXT 842 leads train Q017-12 west at Pottery Road. Below, the locomotives had passed through the Pottery Road railroad crossing (milepost QC297.76), and in the distance the signals giving the train the all clear can be seen. Train...
