  CSXT 4568 leads M364-15 through the crossover from Track 1 to Track 2 at CP 286 .   CSX's latest commemorative locomotive, CSXT 4568, led manifest train M364-15 (Avon, Indiana, to Selkirk, New York) through Syracuse on Sunday. The locomotive commemorates Operation Lifesaver's 50th anniversary. CSXT 4568 was painted in the Operation Lifesaver paint scheme at CSX's shops in Huntington, West Virginia. The locomotive is a SD70MAC and was built in 2000 as CSXT 768. CSXT 4568 is eastbound at CP 286 of the Syracuse Terminal Subdivision at Burnet Street. Back in 2008, I caught Union Pacific (UP) 6720 and UP 6726, both ex-Chicago and Northwestern (CNW) locomotives, leading a loaded coal train south through Valley Junction in East St. Louis, Illinois . The train was making its way toward UP's Chester Subdivision, which starts on the southern edge of the junction . At this point the majority of the train is still coming down off of the east approach from the MacArthur Bridge . The MacArthur Bridge crosses the Mississippi River between St. Louis, Missouri, and East St. Louis, Illinois.  The junction/interlocking is controlled by the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis (TRRA). UP 6720 and UP 6726 lead a loaded coal train at Valley Junction. These locomotives are painted in CNW's Operation Lifesaver (OL) paint scheme. While the two locomotives still retained their CNW OL paint scheme, they had been patched as UP locomotives. You can see under the cab's side windows the new UP markings and locomotive numbers. CSX 904026 - Gallatin, TN CSXT 904026 , painted in an old Operation Lifesaver paint scheme, is seen here sitting along side the  CSX Main Line Subdivision . The caboose looks likes it down and out, but it is still used on the local trains in the area. At least it was being used a year ago when I saw it on a CSX local in Gallatin . November 1, 2006. East St. Louis, Illinois. Union Pacific 6809 and Union Pacific 6703 lead an empty coal train west on the eastern approach of the MacArthur Bridge. The train is passing by Jackie Joyner Park. Union Pacific 6703 is ex-Chicago & Northwestern Railroad (C&NW) 8801, and was one of many locomotives that C&NW painted with the "Operation Lifesaver" logotype on the sides. Photo © Tom Gatermann.

CSXT 2613 and CSXT 904026 - Gallatin, TN CSX 2613 and CSX 904026 sit on a side track along side the CSX Mainline Subdivision . Usually, the caboose is used on local trains that switch in the Gallatin, Tennessee, area. It can often be found parked along the main line is the general area of West Eastland Avenue and Durham Avenue when it is not in use. These days CSX 904026 is used as a shoving platform on the locals when the trains are being pushed down the tracks. Photograph taken: February 22, 2017, at Gallatin, Tennessee.
