UP 5411 - Knox Avenue - St. Louis, MO Union Pacific 5411 sits on the point of an eastbound autorack train at Knox Avenue that is waiting for clearance to proceed east on Union Pacific's Jefferson City Subdivision, toward Grand Interlocking . The train had just gotten the signal to proceed east toward the interlocking. From Grand Interlocking the train would continue on to Gratiot Interlocking, and then across the MacArthur Bridge from Missouri to Illinois. If my memory serves me right, I believe this train was destined for Alton & Southern's Gateway Yard in East St. Louis, Illinois. Photo taken: February 26, 2006. St. Louis, Missouri.

CSXT 7570 - St. Louis, MO CSX 7570 rolls south (away from the camera) on TRRA's Merchants Subdivision , in North St. Louis. CSX 7570 and another locomotive were trying to make a quick run past the mini-Death Star in the background. The large "Death Star" dome is part of Continental Cement Company. This photograph is looking south, from just north of Clinton Street.  CSX 7570 is a  General Electric built C40-8 model locomotive. The locomotive was built in 1989, for the CSX railroad. Since this photograph was taken, the locomotive has been sold off to GECX , a railroad leasing company, and is now GECX 7570. Photograph taken: July 14, 2008, at St. Louis, Missouri.

UP 4006 - Number plate, bell, and number boards This is the number plate, bell, and number boards of  Union Pacific Big Boy X4006 . The steam locomotive is on display at the National Museum of Transportation . UP 4006 is one of 25 Big Boy locomotives that were built for the Union Pacific Railroad in the early 1940s, and are considered to be the biggest steam locomotives ever built.
