Q560-14, led by CSXT 893, at CP308 of the Rochester Subdivision

CSXT 893 leads Q560 east at Brutus, NY

Control point (CP) 308 is at milepost (MP) 308.7 of the CSX Rochester Subdivision. The CP sits on top of the Onondaga County and Cayuga County border, just to the east of Pump Road. On the east side of CP308 is Jordan, New York. To the west of it is the Town of Brutus, NY. The area west of CP308, even though it is in the Town of Brutus, is commonly referred to as Jordan.

In the photograph above, the route is set with a clear signal for an eastbound train on Track 2. The movement will be Track 2 to Track 2. CP308 has a single crossover that allows either eastbound movements from Track 2 to Track 1 or the reverse, westbound movements from Track 1 to Track 2.

Very often, routes at CPs are set far in advance of a train. However, I didn't have long to wait this time. Four minutes after taking the first photograph of this post, the headlight of CSXT 893 appeared west of Bonta Bridge Road (a half mile west of Pump Road). Q560 is a daily manifest train that originates in Cincinnati, Ohio, and travels to CSX's Selkirk Yard in Selkirk, New York. Along the way to Selkirk, Q560 works yards at New River, Ohio, Lima, Ohio, Willard, Ohio, Collinwood Yard in Cleveland, Ohio, Ashtabula, Ohio, Frontier Yard in Buffalo, New York, and DeWitt Yard in Syracuse, New York.
