Vertigo? - Part I - Looking down from the top of Hoover Dam

Hoover Dam A view looking down, from the top of Hoover Dam. The dam is 726 feet tall, and weighs more than 6.6 million tons. At the bottom water from the Colorado River and Lake Mead are being released. On the back side of the dam, large intake towers feed water into the dam's turbines to produce electricity. Intake towers at Hoover Dam on the Arizona side

Hoover Dam intake towers Seen in this photograph are two of the four large intake towers at Hoover Dam. These two towers are on the Arizona side of the dam, while the other two are on the Nevada side of the dam. The intake towers draw water into the dam to provide energy to turn the electrical turbines in the dam's power plant. After powering the turbines, the water is released at the base of the dam .
