  CSXT 3150 and CSXT 944 lead manifest train M620-15 north at Henry Clay Road in Clay, NY.   CSXT  3150 and CSXT 944 lead manifest train M620-15 (Selkirk, New York, to Massena, New York) through the Morgan Road railroad crossing in Clay, New York. The train is northbound on CSX's St. Lawrence Subdivision . Much of the train's cargo is destined to be interchanged with Canadian National near Massena, which is near the US-Canada border.   Local train L026-19 is northbound along the eastern edge of Onondaga Lake.   Led by CSXT 6085, L026 is heading north on CSX's St. Lawrence Subdivision along the eastern edge of Onondaga Lake. The St. Lawrence Subdivision follows closely to the eastern side of the lake between  CP 291 , to the south, and  Liverpool, New York , to the north. The St. Lawrence Subdivision begins at CP 291, on the eastern side of Murphy's Island. At CP 291 the subdivision connects with CSX's Syracuse Terminal Subdivision.   L026 is heading to its first stop at Woodard, New York, in the Clay, New York, area. After Woodard L026 will head north on CSX's Fulton Subdivision, which diverges from the St. Lawrence Subdivision at Woodard.   Photograph taken on September 19, 2022.

Q621, led by CSXT 3408, comes around the curve along Railroad Street.   In June, CSX manifest train Q621-02 came south on CSX's St. Lawrence Subdivision with CSXT 3408 leading. Q621-02 was the second-to-last Q621 to carry the Q prefix. On June 4, 2022, CSX changed the prefix for manifest trains to M.  Photograph taken on June 3, 2004, at Liverpool, New York.

  After catching train B727 at Memphis, New York, my youngest and I headed to Syracuse, New York, to catch CSX train Q621. Q621 was coming south on the St. Lawrence Subdivision towards Control Point (CP) 291, where it would then go east on the Syracuse Terminal Subdivision. Q621 at CP291 CP291 has a wye interchange between the St. Lawrence Subdivision and the Syracuse Terminal Subdivision . The CP sits on the northeast side of Destiny USA Mall. Interstate 81 (I-81) crosses over the northeastern edge of CP291, and the Syracuse Amtrak station is just northeast of I-81. The Syracuse Terminal Subdivision runs on a northeast-southwest alignment at the southern end of Onondaga Lake. The St. Lawrence Subdivision runs on a north-south alignment on the eastern side of the lake. With Onondaga Lake in the background, CSXT 891 leads Q621 onto the east leg of CP291's wye. While over in East Syracuse, New York, at CSX's DeWitt Yard, I heard CSX local B777-21 call the dispatcher for a track warrant, from milepost QMF23.2 on CSX's Fulton Subdivision down to milepost QMF7.2 at Woodard, NY. I was too far away from the Fulton Subdivision to catch B777-21, since I was catching a "race" between intermodal trains I009-20 and I017-21 at DeWitt Yard . But I figured that maybe I could catch B777-21 after finishing up at DeWitt and running an errand in East Syracuse. CSXT 3325 at CP291 At Woodard, the Fulton Subdivision connects with CSX's St. Lawrence Subdivision. I thought that I might be able to catch B777-21 somewhere near Woodard. As I was making my way to Woodard, along Onondaga Lake Parkway, I spotted CSXT 3325 leading a train Q621 south on the St. Lawrence Subdivision.   While driving along Onondaga Lake, I spotted a stopped train sitting on CSX's St. Lawrence Subdivision. After confirming that the train to be heading southbound, I headed down to Destiny USA Mall, where the St. Lawrence Subdivision connects with the Syracuse Terminal Subdivision. Train Q621 at CP291   Below, Q621, with CSXT 3115 on the point, is on the St. Lawrence Subdivision (SLS), just north of the wye at CP291. The wye connects the SLS (commonly called the Massena Line) with the Syracuse Terminal Subdivision (STS). The SLS starts here at milepost (MP) QM2.0 and runs north to Massena, New York. CP291 sits at MP 291.5 of the STS. CSXT 3115 with Q621, waiting just north of CP291   From this vantage point the train is about 1,400 ft. (426 m.) away. This location worked out well because there is a railroad service road that runs mostly straight from my vantage point, helping to prevent any obstacles that might have interfered with the composition.    Below, th...
